Internal Bleaching for a Darkened Front Tooth

Patient History

Several years after having a root canal on her upper right lateral incisor, this patient noticed the tooth had gradually darkened and become a cosmetic concern. She wanted to improve its appearance while preserving as much of her natural tooth as possible.

Treatment

Internal tooth bleaching offered a conservative solution without the need for a veneer or crown. The existing root canal access was reopened, and a specialized whitening material was placed inside the tooth to gradually lighten it from within.
Over approximately two weeks, the tooth brightened to closely match the surrounding teeth. Once the desired shade was achieved, the access was restored with a light-colored composite filling for a natural, seamless result.
