Dr. Evan Smith, DMD, FAGD
Dr. Evan Smith brings a lifelong passion for dentistry and patient care to Palmetto and Pine. Raised in a dental family, he developed an early appreciation for the profession under the guidance of his father, a dentist with more than four decades of experience. That foundation continues to shape his commitment to ethical care, strong relationships, and consistently high standards.
Originally from Lexington, South Carolina, Dr. Smith earned his degree in Biology from Wofford College before completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. During his time there, he distinguished himself academically and clinically, earning multiple awards, including recognition for Excellence in Implant Dentistry and placement on the Dean’s List.
Dr. Smith completed a General Practice Residency at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, where he expanded his expertise in advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry, dental implant placement, oral and periodontal surgery, laser therapy, sedation, and TMJ management. His training also emphasized treating patients with complex dental needs and delivering care with precision and attention to detail.
Following his residency, Dr. Smith practiced in two highly regarded comprehensive dental practices in Columbia, South Carolina, and Beverly Hills, California. These environments focused on cosmetic and complex restorative care, further refining his approach to both function and aesthetics. During this time, he was also invited to serve on the teaching faculty at Palmetto Health Hospital and the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he shared his knowledge with dental residents and helped guide the next generation of clinicians.

Commitment to Continued Education
Dr. Smith believes that ongoing education is essential to providing the level of care his patients expect. He regularly attends advanced training programs, including courses at the Spear Institute, to stay current with evolving techniques and technology. His dedication to learning led him to earn Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, an achievement held by only a small percentage of dentists.
He maintains active membership in several respected organizations, including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Implant Institute, North Carolina Dental Association, Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics, Charlotte Dental Society, and Academy of Sports Dentistry.
Sports Dentistry and Community Involvement
Dr. Smith, alongside Dr. James Herron, serves as a Team Dentist for the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC. This role reflects his advanced training in dental trauma and his ability to provide care in high-performance environments where precision and responsiveness matter.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Smith values teaching and mentorship. He was honored with the Dr. Harry Sunshine Teaching Mentor Award, a recognition given by residents for his impact and leadership in their training.
