Replacing Missing Lateral Incisors with Maryland Bridges
Patient History
This patient had existing Maryland bridges replacing two missing lateral incisors and wanted to improve both the appearance and longevity of her restorations. Because the available spacing was not ideal for dental implants, new Maryland bridges offered a more appropriate restorative solution.
Treatment
Creating a natural-looking result required careful attention to more than the replacement teeth themselves. Minor orthodontic treatment was first used to improve spacing and the patient’s bite. Gingival grafting helped enhance the surrounding gum contours so the replacement teeth would appear to emerge more naturally from the smile.
Custom all-porcelain Maryland bridges were then created to replace the missing lateral incisors. The comprehensive approach resulted in improved proportions, soft tissue contours, and a natural appearance that blended with the surrounding teeth.
